Medicare's parts, in one sentence each

Here's how coverage is divided and how the pieces fit together.

  • Part A — hospitalization; usually no premium if you worked 40 quarters
  • Part B — doctor visits and outpatient services; has a monthly premium
  • Part C (Advantage) — a private plan that bundles A, B, and almost always D
  • Part D — prescription drug coverage
  • Medigap — a supplement that covers what A and B leave as out-of-pocket cost

Dates you shouldn't miss

Your initial enrollment period spans three months before you turn 65, your birthday month, and three months after.

  • Initial enrollment period when you turn 65
  • Special enrollment period if you leave employer coverage
  • Annual open enrollment: October 15 to December 7
  • Medicare Advantage change period: January 1 to March 31

What we review in your consultation

A 20-minute call is usually enough to get clarity.

  • Your current doctors and whether they're in the plan's network
  • Your medications and their tier in the formulary
  • How much you travel or spend time outside Texas
  • Your monthly budget and tolerance for unexpected costs
Frequently asked questions

What clients ask us most

Is Medicare free?

Part A usually has no premium if you worked 40 quarters, but Part B has a standard monthly premium. Advantage, Medigap, and Part D can add costs that we review with you.

Can I have Medicare and Medicaid at the same time?

Yes. With dual eligibility, special plans with extra benefits are available. We check your case and explain the options.

Is Advantage or Medigap better for me?

It depends on your doctors, your travel, and your tolerance for variable costs. Medigap offers more freedom at a higher premium; Advantage usually costs less per month but works within a network. We compare it against your real situation.
